Liverpool Knitters: Share knitting skills, learn new ones at Liverpool library on Thursdays (school terms), 10am-noon. Work on your own or community projects and experience the gentle art of knitting in a friendly and supportive group. Bring your own knitting supplies. Bookings not needed.
Give a little: As Red Nose Day celebrates its 30th anniversary on June 29, Red Nose are urging the Australian public to get involved to help them reduce nine children’s deaths per day, to zero. A Little Give, For a Little Life is all it takes. Get involved by purchasing a red nose or other Red Nose Day product, making a donation, hosting a children’s fundraising disco or setting up an online fundraising page. Door knocking: The Salvation Army is having its annual Red Shield Appeal on Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27. This is the organisation’s major appeal for the year. It offers an opportunity to raise funds to continue the Salvation Army’s work in the local community as well as a chance for the community to get involved and help out. Details: salvos.org.au.
On your bike: Join Western Sydney Cycle Network for a free Community Ride and sausage sizzle on Sunday, July 1 and then every first Sunday of the month. This month it’s a 27 kilometre ride starting from the clubhouse at the back of Fairfield Showground, Prairewood. Riders meet at 9am for a 9.30am start. Cancer help: The ENRICHing Survivorship program is a free group-based program comprised of eight, two-hour, face-to-face, weekly sessions. The sessions will run from 9am-11am on Tuesdays from September 18 to November 13. ENRICHing Survivorship provides cancer survivors with nutrition information, involvement in physical activity and practical information and discussion about adjusting to life following cancer treatment.
